German, holds degrees in European Studies and Near and Middle Eastern Studies from Maastricht University and the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. Between her degrees, Katharina studied and worked more than two years in Damascus and Beirut. Before joining Democracy Reporting International (DRI), she gained working experience with the UN Works and Relief Agency for Palestinian Refugees and a local NGO in Beirut. Next to her work with DRI, she is a freelance interpreter/translator for Arab refugees at the governmental office for migration and refugees in Berlin. Katharina is fluent in German, English and Arabic.
