Position title: CSO Toolkit Development Expert (Pakistan)

Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. DRI promotes political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies and the development of democratic institutions worldwide.
In an upcoming project, DRI Pakistan is planning to engage with parliamentarians and government bodies to discuss the role of NGOs and how they can effectively assist the socio-economic development of Pakistan in our unique national context. The overall objective of the project is to work with the government to create a conducive environment for civil society and media.
DRI seeks the services of a CSO toolkit development expert/consultant to develop a toolkit for local civil society organisations (CSOs) on public policy engagement. The development of the toolkit is broadly aimed to increase CSO representative’s understanding of engaging with parliamentary structures, state authorities and other relevant stakeholders on public policy reforms.
Develop a toolkit devising strategies, methods and tools for the local civil society organisations (CSOs) to effectively engage with parliamentary systems, state bodies and other relevant stakeholders on key public policy issues, especially democratisation, human rights and rule of law. The toolkit is envisioned to be aligned with Pakistan’s local context, systems and procedures and in compliance with international standards and best practices.
Qualifications we require:
- A university degree in Political Science/Public Policy/Human Rights/ International Law or equivalent;
- Excellent understanding of Pakistan’s democratic and human rights policies and systems, specifically in purview of the country’s relevant international obligations;
- Demonstrated experience in working with parliamentary structures, government entities, civil society actors and other stakeholders on public policy issues especially in the areas of democratic and human rights reforms;
- Excellent communication, research and writing skills;
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Urdu.
