DRI weighs in on the decentralisation vs. federalism debate

Amid a growing media debate around federalism, DRI (Democracy Reporting International) provided specialised talks about decentralisation versus federalism to students and emerging political groups in Lebanon, at the request of Kulluna Irada and The Lebanese National Convention. The first session was held on 17 February and the second session on 4 March. DRI was also featured on LBCI on 6 March to assess the federalist narrative, its roots, and caveats.

DRI discussed the potential benefits and drawbacks of decentralisation and federalism in the current governance crisis in Lebanon, examined models and experiences from other countries, and explored challenges that Lebanon may face in implementing decentralisation.
