Promoting Community Policing in Lebanon

With support from the European Union, DRI signed a new partnership with Auberge Beity Association to launch the “Municipal Police with a Community Participatory Approach” project, aiming to strengthen communication between the municipal police and the local community in Kfardebian to enhance the relations and trust among both parties. This comes as part of informing local communities about the change in the services provided by the municipal police and its transfer to a community policing service.

Similarly, awareness sessions are ongoing in Jezzine and Tripoli by “Development for People and Nature Association” and “Al Midan Association” respectively.

Awareness sessions aim to enhance the communication between the local community and the municipality by providing municipal police officers members with proper communication techniques to reach out to local community members and tourists as well. Also, to be able to answer requests and respond to complaints through social media platforms.
