The municipal police is an administrative authority with broad powers within its scope of work. The number of police officers in each municipality varies according to the size of the population and the capabilities of the municipality.

The municipal police is distinguished by its closeness to the people and its good relationship with the citizens. It is also distinguished by its wide powers that include regulating traffic and protecting the environment, to maintaining security in coordination with the competent security services.

It is possible to consider the municipal police as the first security reference for citizens to resolve any dispute before resorting to other security agencies.
