Case studies of constitutional reform processes in transition countries

DRI's Briefing Paper Case Studies of Constitutional Reform Processes in Transition Countries looks at how constitutional reform in Chile, Indonesia, South Korea, South Africa and Nepal unfolded and the lessons learned from these cases for future processes.

Each case sheds light on how specific political contexts influence and shape processes of constitutional reform and key questions that emerge during political transitions: what should the negotiation process look like? How can the process engage and accommodate a broad range of stakeholders, including those who favour the status quo? What opportunities can be created for public participation and outreach?

Written within the framework of DRI's Myanmar country programme, the Briefing Paper is available in English and Burmese. Download the Briefing Paper below.
