This policy brief analyses "The Role of Local Councils in the Tunisian Institutional Landscape". It emphasizes the gaps of the current legal framework in relation to the competencies and supervision of the local councils, and their relationships with the other institutions.

In addition to analyzing legal issues related to the relationship between local councils, the central administration, and decentralized administration, the policy brief developed by the members of the Collaborative Group includes recommendations directed at:

- The legislature.

- The executive function.

- The Independent High Authority for Elections.
