Three months since Ukraine’s new government has been sworn in, several political reforms demanded by reformers and Ukraine’s European partners have not been notably moved forward. The electoral law and decentralisation reforms have not yet been adopted. The process for a comprehensive constitutional reform is just starting, with a new constitutional commission expected to be set up this month. The judiciary law remains the main political reform law adopted thus far.
Swift and inclusive implementation of reforms remains key to stabilising Ukraine. However, three months into the government’s term in office, a number of challenges to the reform process have become apparent. DRI’s latest policy memo highlights seven pitfalls that should be avoided.
