Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. DRI promotes political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies, and the development of democratic institutions worldwide.
DRI is currently searching for a Volunteer (m/f/d) to join our Supervisory Board.
What does the Supervisory Board do?
Board members actively participate in the relevance and growth of the organisation by:
- Carrying out the governance functions as foreseen in the non-profit company (gGmbH) contract, in particular supervising the executive director
- Supporting DRI´s management (executive director, director of programmes, director of finance and director of hr and administration)
- Supporting the mobilisation of resources by using their networks, attending meetings and events
- Contributing to setting DRI’s overall strategy.
Joining DRI’s supervisory board gives you a chance to get involved with an exciting organisation with almost 100 team members, that works at the forefront of a number of high-profile transitions and themes of relevance to the future of democracy. Read more on our strategy here.
You would attend board meetings (2-3 per year, usually one physical meeting in Berlin), carefully read monthly updates and regularly communicate with the other board members. You would use your networks and expertise to advise DRI management and to further DRI objectives. On average, the work would represent a half workday per month. You may participate in DRI events in your area of expertise or join DRI missions.
What You Bring to the Role:
You should have specific expertise in the area of communication and fundraising and be ready to use it to DRI´s benefit. This expertise would complement other fields of expertise on the board, such as diplomacy, politics, management, finances and law. You should have a firm commitment to democracy and political pluralism.
You must be fluent in English. Additional languages are an asset. You should be willing and able to travel to Berlin once per year.

The term of board membership is four years. Board members are not remunerated. Travel and accommodation costs to attend board meetings or to officially represent DRI at other occasions are covered by DRI.
