Building a strong Libyan Coalition of Civil Society Organisations

While Libya remains deeply divided and the central state dysfunctional, at local levels improvements still can be made. This was the conclusion of 14 Libyan citizen groups from across the country which represent the Coalition for the Libyan Constitution. As it is impossible for them to travel and meet freely within Libya, DRI brought them to Tunis from 22 and 26 January to facilitate planning of activities for the coming months and to develop Coalition’s capacity.

At the meeting each of the 14 groups developed their own activities on human rights and state-building, as well as a planning tasks for the Coalition, aimed at assessing the capacities of various municipalities to identify where they could be strengthened to improve living conditions.
