Support to the 2014 elections

DRI has provided electoral assistance to the Fijian authorities since October 2013, advising election managers on the legal framework and planning for the elections scheduled for 2014. With DRI’s technical assistance, funded by the EU, over 10,000 polling staff will be trained using tailor-made curricula, training plans and manuals, reaching citizens across the 322 islands of Fiji’s vast territory. An additional project, funded by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, supports the introduction of a new electronic system to manage, capture and count votes to allow citizens to see reliable election results in a short time.

DRI’s work in Fiji aims to increase the efficiency, credibility, and transparency of elections, and it is made possible with the funding of the European Union and the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
